CFSI Turning the Wilson Building in Washington, DC “Red”

On September 21, 2012 the Executive Office of the Mayor, Office of Communications for the Government of the District of Columbia, issued this press release about turning the John A. Wilson Building “red” in celebration of the Washington Nationals playoff berth. Each night throughout the Nationals playoff run, Crockett Facilities Services technicians, who provide consolidated maintenance services to the Wilson building on a daily basis, make this happen. They placed red film on 100 light lenses located on the rooftop of the building, so when the lights automatically turn on each night, the building has a red glow.

Crockett Facilities Services is accustomed to preparing the Wilson Building for all types of ceremonies and events, as the building occupants include the General Council and the Mayor’s Office for the District of Columbia. In addition to city offices, the building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, also houses an art gallery, public museum displays and event space.

The Wilson building is one of many government office buildings where Crockett Facilities Services is contracted to deliver consolidated maintenance services, including heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) service, preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment tours, elevator maintenance and repairs, architectural and structural maintenance, capital improvement projects and snow removal.

Mayor Gray To Turn John A. Wilson Building “Red”; To Highlight Washington Nationals Playoff Berth Win

Nationals Become the First D.C. Baseball Team to Play in the Postseason Since the Senators Played in the World Series in 1933

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray today announced that the John A. Wilson Building, the seat of the District of Columbia government, will “turn red” in recognition of the Washington Nationals securing a berth in the Major League Baseball playoffs last night.  Starting tonight and throughout the team’s playoff run, each night Wilson building technicians will light the building red in honor of the Nationals.

“It’s terrific that our Nats have clinched a spot in the playoffs.  Next up the Division title.” said Mayor Gray. “On behalf of the residents of the District of Columbia, I wish the team good luck throughout the playoffs.”;

The Washington Nationals (91-58) beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 to secure at least a National League wild card place and bring playoff baseball back to the U.S. capital for the first time since 1933 when the Washington Senators were playing in the World Series.  The Nationals “magic number” to win the National League East Division is down to 8.
