Crockett is an HVAC Contractor That Believes in Safety Training

Crockett Safety

While safety training is required by OSHA, we at CFSI believe it is our obligation to provide our employees with a safe work environment and that starts with proper safety training.

“Safety is something that happens between your ears, not something you hold in your hands.” – Jeff Cooper

When it comes to Crockett Facilities Services, Inc. (CFSI), we are not only dedicated to providing the highest quality HVAC work in the area, but we also strive to make each and every job a safe one. Safety has always and will continue to be one of our most important values in the operation of this organization. We firmly believe that excellent service goes hand-in-hand with safety. This is why we took it upon ourselves to develop our Safety Training Program, which not only takes OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) recommendations into account, but also client needs and real-world applications.

The CFSI Safety Training Program

While safety training is required by OSHA, we at CFSI believe it is our obligation to provide our employees with a safe work environment and that starts with proper safety training.

“Not only do our clients, employers and fellow employees depend on us to work safe, our families and friends depend on us, too,” explained CFSI Operations Manager Joe O’Neil. “By providing and receiving competent safety training, it gives us the tools needed to work safe.”

With a dispersed labor force working in several different states, we elected an online training platform to provide for universal access. The platform is simple to use, easy to understand and available 24 hours a day. Training sessions are held using text and videos followed by a comprehension test to ensure retention. Each employee who scores an 80% or better receives a certificate of completion and the results are recorded and sent to the Safety Manager.

Formal training is provided at least monthly, with additional training provided as needed. Weekly Toolbox Talks – informal group discussions on safety related topics – also supplement our training sessions.  This could include PPE needs at the site, condition of PPE or areas of the facility that may need safety related improvements.

Other training from outside sources is sometimes used for site-specific equipment or situations.

What Makes the CFSI Safety Training Program Different?

  • Specialized: When it comes to HVAC, one size does not fit all. We developed several Safety Training Programs that are adaptable based on the employee’s job duties, location, and special needs. A custodial worker doesn’t need a Hot Work training class when a Slips, Trips and Falls class would be a better choice. An office worker wouldn’t benefit from an Electrical Safety course, but would benefit from an Ergonomics course. Etc.
  • Trends: When scheduling our training sessions, we took a look at trends in our own facilities as well as industry trends.
  • Ever-Evolving: Our training is reviewed frequently and adjusted as needed.

We each have a commitment to our friends, family and employer to work safe, come home uninjured, and in one piece. Folks depend on us. Who depends on you to work safe?
