Today’s Best HVAC Solutions for Your Facility

One of the biggest challenges for climate control in facilities today is combining energy efficiency with performance. Rising energy costs pressure facility owners to find more efficient systems, but these systems have to be able to keep up with the building’s demands. Finding HVAC solutions can be a headache.Green Building Code

Fortunately, this article will cover today’s best options for HVAC solutions, highlighting systems that are both efficient and powerful. Keep reading to learn which system is right for your facility.

Oil-Free Compressors

Traditionally, HVAC compressors required oil to lubricate the bearings. This could result in an efficiency reduction, as oil tends to coat surfaces. Oil-coated surfaces interfere with heat transfer, resulting in hindered efficiency. However, new oil-free compression systems eliminate this problem. There are no mechanical bearings, thus requiring less maintenance as well. They are also a high-efficiency option, offering efficiency improvements over traditional equipment of up to 30%.

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Systems

VRF systems match the flow rate of refrigerant between the cooling or heating load and the compressor. There are two options with these systems. The first one allows for zoning control of airflow, with multiple units providing air to specific zones. The second one, optimal for large facilities, uses a heat pump and cooling tower to regulate temperatures in spacious facilities. Operating at high-efficiency, they are a popular HVAC solution for maximum comfort.

Ductless Split Systems

These heating and cooling systems can serve between one and five different zones. An outdoor condensing unit is connected to a ductless air handler indoors. This allows them to be very flexible, as they can be installed almost anywhere. The only connection needed from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit is the refrigerant lines. Not to mention, the average cost of running a ductless system versus a ducted system is significantly less.
