Does Your Business Need Commercial Cooling Towers?

Commercial cooling towers can benefit your business.

Commercial cooling towers can benefit your business. You may be wondering how, along with what purpose they serve; simply put, these towers are features of a commercial building that keep a vital supply of water cool. Cooling towers vent the excess heat into the atmosphere, but this operation can wear them down over the years. Now that spring has officially begun, it’s time to assess the condition of your existing commercial cooling towers. If your building does not them, then you should consider their merits.

Benefits of Commercial Cooling Towers

Your business may not be in the energy industry. That said, your company can still benefit from having one installed. Natural draft cooling towers and induced draft cooling towers are the two main types that you might see being offered. The difference between them is that natural draft towers will send warm up through a chimney. Induced draft towers, on the other hand, incorporate fans that prevent the warm air from re-entering your building’s circulatory system. While hot air feels wonderful when it’s cold, it’s much less pleasant in the heat that spring and summer bring with them.

Commercial cooling towers can provide much lower temperatures and humidity levels. Thus, this makes them ideal for data centers that store and oversee larger computer server systems. If your business is engaged in heavy industry, this is also an occasion for incorporating commercial cooling towers into your premises. Manufacturers, power plants, chemical engineering facilities, and larger heating and cooling systems can also benefit from the use of these towers. Now that you understand some of the benefits, let’s take a closer look at how to perform the proper maintenance.

Performing Maintenance

During the winter, your commercial cooling towers were shut down. Now that spring is back you should reactivate them and perform some maintenance. After all, it’s entirely possible that colonies of bacteria, such as Legionella, have been growing, no matter how well you drained the water reservoirs. Cleaning out any growth of bacteria sanitizes your towers, while also improving their overall efficiency. Another way to improve the efficiency of your towers is to maintain the chiller heads.

Chiller heads also have components that are known as anodes. It’s important to clean off these anodes to ensure that they work properly. Start by Inspecting the filters and distributors to ensure that enough water flow is taking place and that any buildups of debris aren’t hampering it. However, don’t overlook the importance of inspecting other elements of your commercial cooling towers. These components include the boilers, condensers, and evaporators. By examining these parts of your system, you can prevent other complications such as limescale, rust, and damage to your pipes.
