Consider Rooftop Commercial HVAC Systems for Your Building

Consider Rooftop Commercial HVAC Systems for Your Building

If your current commercial HVAC system is out of date, you might need to get a new one. If that’s the case, you should consider the merits of a rooftop commercial HVAC system.

If your current commercial HVAC system is out of date, you might need to get one. If that’s the case, you should consider the merits of a rooftop commercial HVAC system. Here is some more information about what they are and how they could be a good fit for you.

How It’s Different

Most of the time, the HVAC unit is contained inside your commercial building. The main difference with a rooftop unit, or RTU, is that is it installed on the roof of your building. The RTU has every component it needs all together in one box so that it is also called a packaged unit. Here’s what is part of a rooftop commercial HVAC unit:

  • AC evaporator and condenser coils, which either absorb or release heat.
  • AC compressor, the engine that helps the unit run as it should.
  • A heat generator.
  • Fans to distribute air through your building’s ductwork.
  • Intakes for outside air to help improve your building’s ventilation and enhance its indoor air quality or IAQ.

Benefits

Installing a rooftop commercial HVAC unit can be hugely beneficial; for instance, if you’re looking for new ways to cut down on energy usage and improve your energy efficiency, then this could be the solution you’re looking for. All of the system components except for the ducts are kept together to ensure they work as efficiently as possible. This, in turn, can help cut your energy bills.

Since everything is together, you don’t need to waste valuable space inside your building for your HVAC system. Plus, getting such a unit installed is much less expensive than with other types of HVAC systems. At first, costs may go up significantly due to installing the brand new unit. However, if the unit is energy-efficient enough you will begin to see lower costs. That said, if you already have a rooftop HVAC unit in place, then replacing it is also much simpler because you’re just installing a newer system in its place. And lastly, whenever any downtime occurs, technicians can find and fix problems much more quickly since every part of the commercial HVAC unit is closer together, which is great news for your business.

Can You Use One?

If your commercial building is all on one level, then the rooftop commercial HVAC unit will be even more effective because the air conditioning won’t have to travel as far. But you can also use this system in a multi-story building, provided that it isn’t more than ten stories high.
