The Wilson Building in DC shines “Pink” for Cherry Blossom Festival

On Wednesday, March 20th and every subsequent night since, the John A. Wilson Building and buildings throughout Washington D.C. and Tokyo have been drenched in pink lights as part of the District’s City in Bloom event and the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Each night at 8pm, Crockett Facilities Services Inc. (CFSI) technicians, who provide who provide consolidated maintenance services to the Wilson Building on a daily basis, make this happen. They purchased, cut, and placed pink film over the building’s 101 roof lights, as well as 27 moat lights, which shine onto the building from ground level.

When the lights automatically turn on each night at 8pm, the Wilson Building glows pink.

Located just 2 blocks from the White House on Pennsylvania Ave. NW, the Wilson Building has housed the local government since July 4, 1908 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It serves as the seat for local government housing the Executive Offices of the Mayor, the Council of the District of Columbia, the Chief Financial Officer, the Office of the Attorney General, along with other District Agencies.

CFSI is accustomed to preparing the Wilson Building for all types of ceremonies and events, including the Presidential Inauguration. We have project management staff onsite to manage the building operations. Our services range from HVAC service, repairs, and preventative maintenance to elevator maintenance, custodial services, snow removal, ground maintenance, and more.

The Wilson building is one of many government office buildings where Crockett Facilities Services is contracted to deliver consolidated maintenance services.
