How to Make Sure Your Commercial HVAC and Refrigeration Are Properly Maintained

Refrigeration equipment is one of the most crucial elements in your building.

Preventative maintenance shouldn’t be avoided. It’s one of the best ways to ensure that your commercial units continue to run as they should. Whether or not they are part of a more intricately interconnected system within your building or not, the correct maintenance can make them more efficient and extend their service lifespans.

Dealing with Refrigeration Equipment

Refrigeration equipment is one of the most crucial elements in your building. Unfortunately, while it can keep you comfortable on unexpectedly warm days, it might also cause you to catch a chill on cooler, rainier days when it seems like the greyness will never go away. Also, for foodservice companies, refrigeration is essential. Coolers, chillers, and walk-in freezers help keep all the food and drink at the right temperatures they should be and prevent them from spoiling, expiring, or wilting. This can make a difference even if you have an employee cafe or cantina on your premises – no one will be happy with the food if it doesn’t look appetizing, regardless of if it tastes better than it looks!

The Checklist for Maintenance

Preventative maintenance can keep everything running smoothly. Although some tasks are reasonable enough for you or your employees to handle, for others, it’s a much better idea to have the professionals come and take a look at what needs to be done!

What Needs to Be Done (Daily and Monthly)

Check on the temperature and monitor the defrost settings. Think about the refrigerator you depend on at home. Temperatures that are too high will lead to more food spoiling, especially if the transfer vents in the freezer are blocked. The same principle applies to commercial-grade equipment in both HVAC systems and food storage appliances.

Clear out more space, and be mindful of how the lights are affecting the setup, especially in walk-in freezers and coolers.

Keep everything clean and double-check for any potential leaks that could be causing invisible problems. These problems are much harder to diagnose because you might not be sure what is wrong until you get a second opinion from professional technicians trained in how to repair HVAC systems and other associated systems, such as water cooling towers and refrigeration equipment.
