HVAC Maintenance Can Affect Your Business

HVAC Maintenance Can Affect Your Business

The condition of your commercial HVAC unit will influence your visitors and tenants, along with your employees, and can either contribute to or prevent downtime. That’s why HVAC maintenance is so important.

A growing, thriving business depends on having a comfortable atmosphere – and we’re not only talking about the company culture. Environmental conditions inside your commercial building matter too. Why is this case? The condition of your commercial HVAC unit will influence your visitors and tenants, along with your employees, and can either contribute to or prevent downtime.

Visitors and Tenants

Visitors to your commercial building should be kept comfortable while they are in the building. After all, whether they are potential customers or clients, you want to make a good first impression on them. For property managers and facility managers, this can be a challenge. Another challenge is keeping your tenants happy; many commercial buildings house the offices of businesses in different industries, especially if the building has multiple floors. Without regularly-scheduled HVAC maintenance, it’s possible that your tenants will move into a different building altogether.

Team Members

One sign of a booming business is a team that’s continually growing. However, you will need to pay attention to how comfortable all of your employees are. It makes sense to turn the building’s thermostat down during hot and humid weather, but in chillier weather, your employees would most likely prefer to be warm instead. A well-maintained HVAC reflects how well-maintained the building as a whole is. If your team is unhappy because of wildly fluctuating temperatures inside your building, consider if the HVAC system could be the culprit.

HVAC Downtime

If your commercial HVAC is prone to malfunctioning, then it could benefit from the commissioning process. Through the commissioning process, you can ensure that your HVAC won’t suffer any catastrophic downtime because of timely HVAC maintenance. Whenever an HVAC unit stops working, it represents lost hours that could have been used more productively, since your building will need to be closed while the HVAC is diagnosed and repaired.

Preventative Maintenance

Preventative maintenance is always a good investment, even if you think that your commercial HVAC system is new enough that upkeep is virtually unnecessary. What this means is that that preventative maintenance can help you minimize repair costs and time lost due to repairs being made. If you’re currently without a preventative maintenance agreement, then the time could be right to start a new one just in time for fall to arrive.
