Replacing Your Commercial HVAC Unit

Replacing Your Commercial HVAC Unit

At some point, you will need to replace your building’s commercial HVAC unit.

At some point, you will need to replace your building’s commercial HVAC unit. You will know that the time has come when you hear odd noises or detect horrible smells emitting from it. When the system gets too old, even top-tier preventative maintenance won’t be able to help it. Here is how you can go about replacing your commercial HVAC unit.

The Reaction of Tenants

The first step in determining the condition of your HVAC is how your building tenants react to it. Although winter is almost over, we are still in the grasp of chilly days that call for more heating throughout the entire facility. Fluctuating temperature issues are one of your first indications that something has gone wrong. This problem is something to address as soon as possible because uncomfortable employees will begin to see their performance dip as they lose focus.

The Age of the System

As we alluded to before, you must evaluate the age of the current system. Even with the best care, an HVAC system can only be expected to last somewhere along the lines of fifteen to twenty years. If it has been longer than that since the last time the unit was replaced, then there is no time like the present to make that switch happen

Changes in Energy Usage

Newer systems are also more energy-efficient than their older counterparts. If you have noticed wildly fluctuating energy bills, it means that something else has gone wrong inside your system. A steady increase over the short term, like three months, might not be a cause for alarm. However, if it has gone on for six months or more, then it might be time to start worrying. Small businesses will have a harder time adapting to this change since they typically have fewer resources.

Benefits of Short-Term Fixes

Even so, using some short-term fixes will yield some dividends. You can have your system repaired and retrofitted. In these circumstances, you can only address problems with ventilation. Preventative maintenance can offset costs associated with replacing your existing commercial HVAC system.
